Modbus TCP & RTU connectivity.

What is Modbus?
Modbus is a widely used industrial communication protocol for connecting PLCs, RTUs, and sensors, available in TCP (Ethernet) and RTU (serial) variants. It is one of the most common protocols in industrial automation due to its simplicity and broad device support.
How SCAIQ™ implements it

SCAIQ Connect includes Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU/serial drivers, with per-channel configuration (IP/host and port for TCP; COM port, baud rate, data bits, parity, and stop bits for RTU/serial), configurable scan rates, and communications diagnostics.

Use cases
  • Connecting PLCs and RTUs over Ethernet (Modbus TCP)
  • Connecting serial instrumentation and legacy devices (Modbus RTU)
  • Brownfield sites with mixed Modbus device populations

Frequently asked questions

Does SCAIQ™ support both Modbus TCP and RTU?

Yes — both Modbus TCP (Ethernet) and Modbus RTU (serial) are supported by SCAIQ Connect.

Can we configure scan rates per device?

Yes — per-device scan rate, addressing, and update criteria are configurable.

What serial parameters are configurable?

COM port, baud rate, data bits, parity, and stop bits, alongside the shared timing settings (timeouts, retries, delays).
